The deal is now official! Saw the Seahorse completed its paperwork today to join Into It Music. See photos below:

Cornell signs the contract as Brandon and Aaron look on.

Brandon's turn.

...and Aaron. Cornell and Brandon look pretty pleased!

All together now, smile for the camera. (That's me, Corey, on the right)

Saw the Seahorse signs to Into It Music

Cedar Rapids, Iowa, rock act Saw the Seahorse today signed a one record deal with Into It Music, the newly formed label, also based in Cedar Rapids.

Saw the Seahorse is the first band to formalize its relationship with the label.

“Saw the Seahorse is a solid foundation from which to launch this record label,” said Into It Music Co Founder Corey Munson. “This is the first of the great Cedar Rapids bands that we will have the pleasure of working with, but certainly not the last.”

As part of the deal, Saw the Seahorse brings its nearly completed, but yet unnamed, debut album under the management of Into It Music.

About Saw the Seahorse:
Formed in 2006, Saw the Seahorse cut its chops playing venues and parties of all sizes in eastern Iowa. The band features Aaron Rowland on lead vocals and guitar, Cornell Veasey on bass guitar, and Brandon McCalley on drums.

Their songs feature a fresh sound that is at one moment danceable, while remaining tender and featuring musical virtuosity rarely found in the local music scene. Musically Saw has been compared to bands such as Talking Heads and Vampire Weekend.

Update 11/20/2010, or, what I’ve learned so far

It has been a wild few weeks since our founding, and I am happy to report that a lot of headway has been made here at Into It Music.

Now that we’re underway, we are excited to be in preliminary discussions with several acts in the Cedar Rapids area. Though it still may be a few weeks before we can formally announce our first signees, we are confident we’ll have exciting news soon!

As previously announced, we can now be found at Facebook.com/intoitmusic. This is significant because it makes it easier for us to tell our friends about the label. It’s short and sweet and easy to remember.

And this is a good time to remind you all to tell your friends about Into It Music. We love talking with local bands and forging new relationships.

Finally, it is with great pleasure that we announce a new partnership with Shirt Yeti, a Cedar Rapids based t-shirt manufacturer and design firm, to develop a series of label and artist shirts and other merchandise in coming years.

Be sure to check out Shirt Yeti on Facebook or  Etsy.

In coming weeks we look forward to introducing the public to our initial line up of bands. Also stay tuned for details on our upcoming launch party, planned for January 2011.

Until then, go out, get involved, and we’ll see you there!

Spreading the Word

I just posted something on Craigslist about us. Check it out here.

Things we "Like"

In addition to Into It Music's Facebook, I really recommend you check out some of our friends as well.

Shockwave is a weekly music and art showcase at the Paul Engle Center on CR's south east side. Check them out here.

Shockwave is part of Jackbox Society, more information on it can be found here.

We've been making a lot of friends since starting this process, but perhaps none better than Saw the Seahorse. Check out this local band here.

And, of course we all have back stories. Before he was a big label executive, Corey had a band of his own. See the only video evident that Yucca Mountain Homesteaders ever existed here.

If you would like more information on Into It Music, e-mail us at corey.munson@gmail.com.

Welcome to Into It Music

Hi ya everybody!

Welcome to Into It Music, an independent record company dedicated to working with local bands and artists in Eastern Iowa. You can get most of this information from our About Us section, but what you really need to know about us is we're just a couple of guys who love music, and want to see local bands bring their music to as wide an audience as possible.

In the coming weeks and months we will regularly add content to this site, and hope to have some major announcements soon as we solidify our initial launch bands.

In the mean time, be sure to connect with us and our fans on Facebook. I look forward to continuing the conversation there!
