Independent record label forms in Cedar Rapids

Into It Music plans launch event and cd release party Feb. 5

Into It Music, an independent record company working with local musicians, has formed in Cedar Rapids and will officially launch on Feb. 5, 2011, with the release of its first album “Triangle are for Squares,” by Saw the Seahorse.

The groundwork for Into It Music started in 2010 with friends and former band mates Scott Stulken and Corey Munson. Both share a love for encouraging and promoting the local scene and created Into It Music as a vehicle to get up and coming acts from across Iowa heard and recognized on a national scale.

“I believe this is a way that I can give back to a scene that I’ve been a part of for many years,” said Munson.

In addition to selling CDs and Vinyl Records, all Into It Music artists will be available for download on iTunes and at the Amazon MP3 Store. Stulken and Munson also plan to co produce many of the albums available from Into It Music at their studio in Cedar Rapids.

To celebrate the founding of Into It Music, the label will host a launch party on Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Paul Engle Center (1600 4th Ave SE) in Cedar Rapids. The evening will feature live performances from Into It Music artists as well as a launch announcement and press avial by founder Corey Munson.

“The launch party is an opportunity for Into It Music to introduce itself to the community, and hopefully have a great time doing it,” Munson said.

This event will also highlight the release of Saw the Seahorse’s debut “Triangles are for Squares.”

Saw combines elements of indie rock, funk and jam into an intoxicating and highly danceable concoction that will have you shaking what God gave you.

Saw will play along side local artists D.C. Cusanelli and Save Us Hollywood. The Launch Party event is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by Jackbox Productions, Shirt Yeti, Frankie’s Cupcakes and More, and Shockwave.
